In-pool whitewater kayak roll training - Boats, all the gear and instructors provided at MTSU for only $9 per session! The first session will be Feb 21th and 28th, and the second session will be March 21st and 28th. Each session consists of two days, so you will need to be there for both dates of your chosen session. Each session will be from 2-5pm. You'll receive six hours of whitewater training for only $18.
Please note: These classes are not recreational kayaking lessons. Recreational kayaking is the calm easy paddles like the Caney, Harpeth or Duck rivers. These classes are for whitewater kayaking - like the Nantahela and Ocoee rivers. You should have recreational paddling experience before signing up for these classes.
Please read the following carefully, this is different than most events we scheduled. Here goes... We've got four Sundays with 12 hours total training time at three hours per Sunday. Total lesson time per person is six hours split into three hours on two Sundays. Twelve members sign up for the first Sunday. Pay the fee of $18 on that first Sunday of the two Sunday session. These same members sign up for the second Sunday. Twelve members sign up for the third Sunday (March 21). Pay the fee of $18 on that event date. These same members sign up for the fourth Sunday. Twenty-four members total fill up these classes. Each separate Sunday costs $9. You must sign up for two consecutive Sundays to complete the six hour class.
Strongly advise that anyone planning to experience whitewater for the first time with the club go through these classes. If you RSVP for one, you MUST RSVP for two since the classes come as a set.
Sorry everyone, I didn't know that what I typed on the feedback would be for all to see. I hope I didn't step on any toes. : ( Thanks to Mark (Bama) for pulling this together, and I'm trully looking forward to next weekend. Reneι
“ I thought it was a good first event for folks wanting to learn to roll. We got a lot of practice with our hip snaps--essential to a successful roll--and with wet exits and T-rescues--essential in the absence of one. Folks who already had a roll had the opportunity to practice. Hopefully, next week, the instructors will teach the set-up and get some more folks rolling! ”
“ PA group was fantastic as always. The insructors were not very professional however, and I believe this was due to 2 of the regular instructors being sick. I'm hoping that next weekend all the regulars will be there and I'm really looking forward to it. ”
“ Had a great time. I definately spent alot of time in the water, instead of on it. Loved the t-rescue. Thanks to all the ones that helped with technique ”

Jim, thank you for the offer, but, as it turns out, I will need to drive myself and may be just a tad bit late. I'll meet you all there!
Linda I am coming from Franklin and would like to carpool. I also don't mind being the one to drive.
Anybody want to carpool from Franklin/Thompson's Station/Spring Hill?
Does anyone have GPS coordinates for the parking lot??
Thanks Linda! You helped me a lot too. I think we're gonna have a BLAST! : )
You're gonna be rolling on Sunday, Renee! You did GREAT and were right there when Tom hosted the PA+ clinic last fall! :)
It's getting closer! I'm excited!! : )
Are we able to bring our own kayaks???
