OK so a WORK day that we might actually enjoy..we will be with other Meet up groups but feel like this would be a great way to give back to the community. No experience necessary (thank God) just a willing heart and desire to help others.
OK.. date has been confirmed .. We have to know a count a month in advance so they can plan out how many other groups to let volunteer. Would love to have a great turn out from MEETUP!! This is a great way to get out and feel good about helping others!! Anyone over the age of 16 can volunteer. I have all information (direction to location/release form from habitat/general info from habitat about volunteering) once you are sure you will be volunteering I will gladly send you the information via e-mail so all your questions should be answered as well as having the release form to fill out and bring. Check in time is 6:30 a.m.(UGH but for a good cause) and work goes till 3:30 p.m.
Normally, Habitat does not provide food. However they are funding the homes in the first phase of the build, for which our group is volunteering, from our HomeStore operations for this reason Habitat is acting as a sponsoring organization and providing food and water.
Tools: Nashville Area Habitat has tools available for everyone at the jobsite. If you bring your own, label them clearly. If they get left or lost at the jobsite, they may be lost forever! Do not bring power tools or nail guns of any kind.
What to Wear: Sturdy boots are best. Tennis shoes are acceptable. (NO sandals, flip flops, open toes, open heels, high heels, etc.) Wear jeans or shorts and a t-shirt or modest tank top. (Bring a sweatshirt if it?s cool.) Use sunscreen because you might be in the sun all day. Leave jewelry and other valuables at home. Chances are you?ll get dirty!
