*EVENT UPDATE*
Arriving – The campground will be ready for us at 2:30PM on Friday afternoon. You do not need to check-in. Go directly into the campground, and look for Loop L. Look for a black Hyundai Tucson with 4 kayaks on top.
Friday Night Food – Friday night we will be having a traditional “pot-luck” type dinner at the pavilion in the campground. Everyone should bring a dish or side-dish. If you have a stove or grill, feel free to cook on-site. There are no grills or stoves at the pavilion, so make sure to bring your own if you’re planning on cooking. We’ll plan on starting dinner around 6:30PM. For those arriving late, don’t worry about bringing food for Friday night.
Saturday Night Food “Throwdown” – This is a challenge to all of you outdoor cooks, it’s time to show off your best dish. The rules are simple: all the contestants cook their best dish, we’ll assign judges who will determine who has the best dish. Needless to say, this will all be done in good fun. I would expect plenty of good natured “trash talking”. If you’re not interested in competing, no problem, please just treat this as a “pot luck”, and bring a side dish. We will plan on starting the “Throwdown” at 6:30PM in the pavilion.
Other Meals: Everyone will be responsible for providing their own food for all other meals. If you don’t feel like “roughing it”, the park has a very nice restaurant in their hotel that is open for breakfast & lunch. Also, if you would like to pair-up with other people for meals, feel free to use the message boards to arrange details.
***************************************** Come join Paddle Adventures Plus for a fun filled weekend on our first camping trip of the year at Dale Hollow Lake State Park in Kentucky. This is a great trip for both new and existing members. All paddling will be done on the clear flat waters of Dale Hollow Lake. So, if your a new paddler, this will be a great chance to get some experience.
Cost of event is $15 - This includes your campsite for 2 nights. It does not include food, drink, or incidentals.
This event is family friendly.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jordan at [masked] or 615-519-2176.
CAMPING - We will be tent camping at the state park campground. All camp sites have water and electric. A bath house with showers is available at the campground within walking distance of all camp sites. Check in time is 2:00PM and checkout is 1:00PM. This event page will be updated closer to the event date with more details on when/where to meet at the campground.

FOOD - On Friday night we will have a campers potluck at the Picnic Pavilion in the campground. You can either cook on-site, or bring something already prepared. On Saturday night, we will be having a camp food "throwdown" (also at the pavilion). So, all of you great camp cooks, get your stoves & grills ready, we're going to "throwdown" PA+ style. Not interested in competing in the throw down? No problem, just bring a side dish or two to share with the group. A thread with more details on this throwdown will be posted on the message board. As for other meals (breakfast and lunch), you will need to bring food to provide for yourself or family. There is a restaurant at the state park that serves breakfast and lunch. Or, feel free to team up with other group members to form "food teams". For those of you interested in being part of a food team, a thread will be started on the message board.

PADDLING - All paddling will be flat-water paddling on Dale Hollow Lake. There is a natural shale beach a couple of miles from the campground that will provide an easy put-in and take out location. There is also plenty of parking near the beach to load and unload boats. Feel free to spend a couple of hours or all day exploring this lake. Dale Hollow Lake is known for it's ultra-clear water and unspoiled shoreline. Float the pristine waters and relax, surrounded by the sounds of nature. There are no "McMansions" staring you in the face as you cruise the peaceful lake. It feels like you are back in time, back to a virgin forest with an unspoiled lake. This is a great opportunity for both experienced and new paddlers to enjoy one of the prettiest lakes in the Southeast.

SELF GUIDED CAVE TOUR - Enjoy the wonders of Cindy Cave on your own. Cindy cave offers an experience you won’t soon forget with formations, crickets, bats, crayfish, and salamanders for viewing. If going on your own, you must check in with the front desk before entering to receive a free permit. Upon exiting the cave, please return permit to the front desk. Equipment rental fee $3.00 per person.

HIKING - Over 15 miles of trails are designated as multi-purpose trails, open for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking unless otherwise posted. No motorized uses are allowed. The trails generally follow old logging roads along narrow ridge tops through the park. Most of the trails end at the tips of these ridges which form peninsulas into Dale Hollow Lake, requiring a return trip on the same trail.

Click here for a detailed description of the various hiking trails - http://parks.ky.gov/f...
MOUNTAIN BIKING - Dale Hollow Lake Resort’s 3,400 acres give plenty of room for approved mountain bike trails. Bring your own bikes.

Crappie, bream, muskie, walleye, trout, catfish, and five species of bass--largemouth, smallmouth, white, Kentucky, and rock--have given Dale Hollow Lake undisputed honor as a top fishing spot in the country. There are plenty of shoals, small tributaries, and clean, clear water to encourage healthy fish growth. You will need either a Tennessee or Kentucky fishing license to fish.

Thanks to all for the good company and Mike thanks for finding your keys...lol Cant wait till the next event without the rain, wind and cold!!! haha
Did anyone get a pic of my son's technique for entering a kayak? I don't know how he does it and not fall in!
What a great weekend, with great folks, great cooks and paddlers! Thanx Mike Tossing for leading us home, safely.

Great day and weekend to look forward to. Great to hear that its the senic route. Looks like I may need to stop and take a picture or two. I will be in a Chev Silverado with a lime green/yellow SOT Yak extending out of the bed of it. ... hard to miss.
Feeling a little stiff this morning but once my meds kick in I should be pain free... haha jk.. Its a good day... Lets go Im ready...lol
Stacey, pick up some fruit or desserts to add to the dinners, cereal, and something for sandwiches while kayaking. No one ever starves with this group!
Figured out how to set up the tent last night, so I won't be clueless when I get there. :) Wish I weren't coming in so late, but I have to stop at the store and get water and food before heading up. Any suggestions for a newbie camper about food? (Nonperishable=good, I know that much.)
Tom, I will be on Hwy 52. Beautiful route, Scenic Byway, and I am a backroads person. silver Avalon, but no kayak on top.
Wow Thank You Kathy that would be great. I hear its going to rain on Friday Night so it might be a little wet into the morning... and cooler they say.
That's one thing I need to get use to. Out West we never think about rain in the summer time... I dont know my exact route but I think its 52 E going through Lafayette and Celina. Hope this is the best way but I think its also the slow route which will provide me lots of scenic ops I hope. I really need to learn how to slow down anyway...
I'll be looking for boats to honk at as well. I'll be leaving Mt. Juliet around 11:30 so if you see a brownish Ford Explorer w/ a red Wilderness honk! I've never been there either so we can caravan. : )
Tom...I have an extra 2-man tent I'll bring...you're more than welcome to use it if you like.
Yeah I will honk at all Paddle boats I come across. I will be following my GPS directions as I have never been there before. Couldnt find my tent in the trailer so I will be sleeping under the stars.. I dont think rain is in the forcast so no big deal.., If it gets bad I have the truck cab... haha Looking forward to this weekend. Hooyahaa
I'll be leaving Hendersonville,12ish friday, if you want to follow, let me know. I'll have a orange Wilderness,on top, so feel free to wave if you pass me.
Thank you Michael and Jordan for letting us borrow kayaks. We are looking forward to the weekend.
Bringing my young'un too...
